For instance, a study found that Essex County's most disadvantaged neighborhoods have fewer than 0.5 acres of parkland per 1,000 residents. These communities often lack the resources to develop and maintain green infrastructure, perpetuating environmental injustices.
New Jersey's Capacity to Address Green Infrastructure Gaps New Jersey faces significant capacity gaps in addressing green infrastructure needs, particularly in urban areas. Municipalities often lack the technical expertise, funding, and community engagement necessary to develop and maintain green spaces.
