Summary

A new grant initiative is now open to organizations that are focused on improving health, safety, and wellness across a specific county region. The primary intent of the funding is to support community-based programs that help address the social, physical, and emotional drivers of well-being—thinking beyond just clinical care and into systems, relationships, environments and prevention. Projects might include public-health efforts, wellness education, safety or prevention programs, community support services, or innovative partnerships that build healthy, resilient communities.

This opportunity is available to nonprofit charities (specifically organizations classified under the appropriate tax-exempt status) operating in or serving residents of the designated county. The funding is not open to individuals, for-profit businesses, or capital-intensive projects such as land acquisition, building renovations or major equipment purchases. Applicants should have at least three years of operational history and demonstrate stable financial footing, and programs that focus on broader community benefit (rather than narrow private benefit) will be favored.

Because the grant serves a single county region, organizations based outside the county may still apply only if they have a meaningful presence in the county, demonstrate experience working with residents or partner directly with local nonprofits in the region. The review process is multi-stage: initial staff review, committee review, and a final board decision; decisions may take up to about two months.

Successful applicants may receive support to launch new or time-limited initiatives (for example pilot programs or short-term projects) that align with the funder’s interest in transformational community change and wellness. The benefits include not only financial assistance, but also recognition of the organization’s role in strengthening community well-being, the potential for stretching existing service capacity, and the opportunity to build data/narrative-based evidence of impact in the region. If you’re a nonprofit serving the community in that county and working in health or wellness domains, this might be a good fit.
