Review panels examine whether proposed staffing includes at least one certified physical education teacher and one licensed mental health professional already employed by the school.
Unlike applications from New York or Pennsylvania, New Jersey requires explicit documentation of student transportation patterns because many secondary students cross county lines daily for specialized classes. This criterion narrows eligibility to schools that can schedule wellness sessions within the regular bell schedule rather than relying on extended-day options.
Schools in the southern counties must additionally certify that proposed nutrition components align with local agricultural output data from the New Jersey Department of Agriculture to avoid procurement conflicts with existing farm-to-school contracts. Northern urban schools face separate verification that mindfulness sessions can occur in multipurpose rooms already scheduled for state-mandated testing.
Fit assessment therefore hinges on whether the applicant can supply signed memoranda from both the district transportation director and the school nutrition director confirming operational feasibility within existing constraints.
